The cable that runs from the throttle (or its own twist-grip) to the oil injection pump arm. It makes the pump deliver more oil as the throttle opens. An adjuster at one end sets its length.
What it does
It links throttle opening to oil delivery. The pump should reach maximum delivery at the throttle opening the manual states, or when the throttle is fully open if there is no figure.
Signs it is worn or failing
- Marks on the pump no longer align at the correct throttle position: Set the oil pump cable so it follows the throttle.
- A stiff, frayed or sticking cable, or an arm that does not return.
- Tank level not going down: Two-stroke oil tank level is not going down.
When to replace it
Replace a frayed, kinked or seized cable. Then reset the pump setting.
What to match when buying
- The cable for your model and pump. Length and end fittings differ.
- Match the cable type (single or two-way) with the old one.
- See Two-stroke oil pump.
