Anti-seize is a paste that stops threads and shafts rusting or welding together. It makes the next job easier.
When to use it
- Shafts and bolts that are outdoors in the weather: axles, wheel nuts and exposed bolts.
- Spark plug threads in an aluminium head, if the plug maker allows it. Check the manual or the plug box: some makers say not to.
What to know
- Use a thin coat only. Anti-seize acts as a lubricant, so a torque value may need to be lower: follow the product label and manual.
- Keep it off brake discs, pads, tyres and clutch plates.
- Use it on a clean part.
